Pure culinary delight

are all the mature fruits in autumn. This is the time for fresh red apples, sweet grapes, nuts and chestnuts. All of them freshly picked and harvested. The menu cards in the so called “Törggele cellars” in and around Dorf Tirol are full with fresh grape fruit, new wine “Sußer”, boiled pork belly and freshly cooked Blutwurst sausages, bacon, cheese and sweet chestnuts. The restaurants offer delicious dishes, a creative selection of South Tyrolean seasonal products. Taste the so called “Schlutzer” or the chestnut soup, dishes with mushrooms or the red beet dumplings.

Dorf Tirol and Meran Grape Festival

The highlight of Tyrolean village tourism in September - the traditional autumn festival. A festival at which all Tyrolean associations give their best. The parade is the highlight and reminds us of the tourist beginnings of our village, Corona permitting. It is framed by the music of many bands from near and far.

The traditional and famous grape festival takes place on the third Sunday in October every year. It celebrates the end of the grape harvest. The festival is rich in variety, colours and tastes. You can watch a parade of various music bands and performances of folkloristic dancing groups while trying South Tyrolean culinary specialities at the festival market. The highlights of the festival are the beautiful and richly decorated floats.
